There are many artists out there using recycled glass to make mosaic furniture but here is a company that is taking recycled glass bottles and are actually casting it into furniture and sculptures.  Robalglass by Green Grove Design is that process using up to 82% recycled materials for this stylish furniture.

What was your first thought when you saw this?  Mine was, “I wonder what it sounds like when you play.”  Second thought was, “how do you keep it clean?”

It actually has a resin surface over the glass so the balls behave as if they are on the traditional felt surface.  There’s even a video you can watch of it in action.  Thanks to the freshome.com blog for the heads up on this one.  Once I get that game room we’ve been talking about I’ll have to dig deeper into this option!

The Modern & Contemporary Design Blog highlighted a handful of light sculptures in a recent post.  I am totally mesmerized by two of them.  One being the chandelier-style sculpture shown above made with vintage glassware from Canada.  What a piece of nostaligia and art all rolled into one.

The other is this piece that seems to incorporate scientific glass blowing with various other elements worked in a torch.  Although I don’t think these pieces are used in a scientific manner, it is interesting to see how that component is mixed with neon tubing.
