Quite a few of my recent posts profiling glass artists have been blowers or lampworkers or casters or fusers…not mosaic artists. So here is Brit Hammer, a mosaic artist I found on the web site, emptyeasel.com. I personally love mosaics that are graphic not necessarily pictoral. And her work is awesome. And the colors are what make it so good. She considers herself a colorist and that’s where she starts…color. Glass and color…isn’t that why we play with glass after all? Read about her and hopefully she will inspire you to make a colorful piece of art, whether it be mosaic, fusing, painting, jewelry…just go make something!

I can’t wait to show you mine! I’ve been working hard on a piece since Tucson for an ISGB exhibit so I’m keeping it under wraps until after the judging. Five micro-mosaics in one necklace. I’ve been realizing that while I like putting them together, it really IS about the color since I mix and pull it all myself. So satisfying!
